Ngāi Tahu sells final Sanford shares in $72 million deal

Ngāi Tahu Holdings has sold its remaining 10.3% stake in fishing company Sanford to Japanese multinational Umios Corporation for $72 million, at a price of $7.47 per share.

Ngāi Tahu's investment history in Sanford

Ngāi Tahu has held a significant minority stake in Sanford since 2021, investing in the New Zealand-based fishing company.

Earlier in June, Ngāi Tahu sold 9.6% of its stake in Sanford through a block trade at $7.15 per share, with this recent transaction completing its exit from the company. Umios Corporation, which was formerly known as Maruha Nichiro Corporation, has now increased its stake in Sanford to 15.5%.
